This special workshop will be held in honour of Prof. Guy Latouche's 65th birthday and retirement. This way the workshop aims to bring together international researchers working on various aspects of matrix-analytic methods in stochastic models including theory, algorithms, methodologies, and applications across a broad spectrum of fields.

The meeting will offer an opportunity for reviewing and discussing current methodologies and the related algorithmic analysis, as well as strengthening collaborations among researchers in applied probability, operations research, engineering, and numerical analysis, and identifying directions of future research.

This informal meeting is also an opportunity for the matrix-analytic methods community to meet in a very pleasant 19th century environment in Italy.

Workshop

Presentations

The present deadline for abstract submission is the April 1, 2012, but we are flexible on that date. However, we would really appreciate it if people interested in giving a talk could submit their abstract as soon as they can, as we will not be able to fit more than about 25 talks during the workshop. We will thus give priority to the first good quality abstracts that we receive. Please note that we will most probably not be able to accept any abstract sent after May 1, 2012.

Please submit your title and a one-page abstract to toeplitz2012@gmail.com together with your name and affiliation. Please provide us with all the source files of your abstract (such as figures, and .tex and .bib files if you are using Latex).

Proceedings

The formal proceedings will appear in a special issue of the journal Performance Evaluation (edited by Elsevier) titled “Advances in Matrix-Analytic Methodology - Modeling, Estimation and Numerical Analysis” (AMAM). The deadline for the submission of papers to EES is September 15, 2012. Further details will be available soon.

Excursion and dinner

There will be an excursion to Sacromonte on the Thursday afternoon, followed by the conference dinner located at:
